#GoGreenWithGEEP 04.22.2019

After 49 years (and quickly approaching it’s 50th anniversary in 2020), Earth Day has become the world’s largest environmental movement! Connecting over 1 billion people across more than 190 countries, this event is vital to educate, celebrate and activate global initiatives. With a mix a political action and civic participation, this event confronts global challenges with the intent to promote/provide responsible alternative solutions that ensure the protection of the Earth for future generations.

GEEP also believes in a sustainable future. As a global leader in managing the complete lifecycle of IT assets, we provide the means for safe, secure and compliant reuse and recycling of e-waste. We strive to achieve a zero-landfill objective by extending the useful life of electronic devices; through absolute data erasure they can be refurbished and repurposed without any security risks. If this is not possible, our end-of-life services provide maximum recovery of natural resources through compliant and environmentally friendly operational practices. GEEP annually processes 127+ million pounds of e-waste and securely manages over 635,000 electronic assets.

GEEP will be participating in several events across North and Central America, celebrating and collaborating with individuals, companies and governments. Follow our corporate social media accounts (@GEEPGlobal via LinkedIn, TwitterFacebook and Instagram) to learn more about these upcoming events and how you can participate! You can also search the hashtag, #GoGreenWithGEEP.

If we do connect in-person, you may receive a GREEN ‘thank-you’ in return: a GEEP seed pen! This item is biodegradable, with the base containing pine tree seeds. Once pen has been used, dispose the refill, plant the pen and watch it grow!

Unfortunately, the world today faces many challenges and it is our responsibility to join together to provide solutions to achieve lasting changes. Celebrate with GEEP this Earth Day, because #TogetherWeCanMakeADifference!

RPN Highlights GEEP Alberta Sites, March 2019

Mark Schell (GM of GEEP’s Calgary and Edmonton facilities) must be getting used to the spotlight, as GEEP Alberta was featured as the recent cover story in Recycling Product News’ March 2019 issue. With a circulation across North America, being featured on last month’s cover, accompanied by a seven-page spread, is no small feat!

The piece focuses on GEEP Alberta’s position within the ITAD and electronic recycling industry:

  • GEEP Calgary site: primary focus is ITAD (IT Asset Management) services. These services extend the useful life of electronic devices by wiping them clean of any data to allow for secure repurposing and eventual resale.
  • GEEP Edmonton site: works closely with the City of Edmonton and is a dedicated end-of-life facility. Each year this site securely and sustainably processes millions of pounds of electronic waste, diverting it from landfill.

The article highlights the importance of data security and compliance and its priority to GEEP. No matter the site or service, GEEP provides clients with official certifications which states that their electronic assets have been data wiped or end-of-life equipment has been destroyed. The highlighting of physically secure sites, standardized procedures and annual audits strengthen this commitment.

Mark also speaks to the evolution of electronics manufacturing, material separation processes practiced at GEEP as well as challenges faced with battery and plastic handling.

So, please go right ahead, click the following link and learn everything there is to know about GEEP Alberta!

Business in Edmonton Features GEEP GM, Feb 2019

Mark Schell, General Manager of both GEEP Edmonton and Calgary, was recently featured in a Member Profile for Business in Edmonton’s February 2019 issue. Being an Edmonton Chamber of Commerce member, Mark was invited to participate and share GEEP’s story with the rest of the Edmonton business community.

The Member Profile captures Mark’s professional background, his role at GEEP, as well as personal highlights (learning his brand preferences – he’s a Starbucks and Apple kinda guy) to his thoughts on the current economic state and voicing his concerns facing the recycling industry in Alberta.

Sit back and enjoy this entertaining two-page read!

GEEP is Proud to Proclaim #WasteReductionWeek in Canada

How do we proclaim WRW?

GEEP believes in a sustainable future and is proud to support #WasteReductionWeek in Canada. We are committed to effectively and responsibly managing one of the fastest growing waste streams: e-waste. As a leader in managing the complete lifecycle of IT assets, we provide individuals, companies and municipalities with the means for safe and complaint reuse and recycling of their electronic waste; just search the hashtag #GoGreenWithGEEP. We strive to achieve a zero-landfill objective by extending the useful life of electronic devices; through absolute data erasure they can be refurbished and repurposed without any security risks. We are proud to share our internal employee initiatives as well, which include: outfitting our offices and employees with reused electronic devices, encouraging e-communication (to avoid paper waste), reusing packaging materials, encouraging the use of reusable cups/mugs and providing easy to access recycling bins in our communal kitchen areas within all GEEP sites.
