GEEP is Proud to Proclaim #WasteReductionWeek in Canada

How do we proclaim WRW?

GEEP believes in a sustainable future and is proud to support #WasteReductionWeek in Canada. We are committed to effectively and responsibly managing one of the fastest growing waste streams: e-waste. As a leader in managing the complete lifecycle of IT assets, we provide individuals, companies and municipalities with the means for safe and complaint reuse and recycling of their electronic waste; just search the hashtag #GoGreenWithGEEP. We strive to achieve a zero-landfill objective by extending the useful life of electronic devices; through absolute data erasure they can be refurbished and repurposed without any security risks. If this is not possible, our end of life services provide maximum recovery of natural resources through compliant and environmentally friendly operational practices. GEEP annually processes 130+ million lbs. of e-waste and securely remarkets for reuse 500k electronic products.

We are proud to share our internal employee initiatives as well, which include: outfitting our offices and employees with reused electronic devices, encouraging e-communication (to avoid paper waste), reusing packaging materials, encouraging the use of reusable cups/mugs and providing easy to access recycling bins in our communal kitchen areas within all GEEP sites.

PRESS RELEASE: Response to Popular Mini-Series Video Featuring GEEP Vancouver

Pertaining to some negative reviews tied to the recent release of a popular mini-series video, please know that GEEP is engaged in the business of managing compliant data security of ITAD assets.  Our secure and R2 compliant facilities, which offer hard drive destruction and data sanitization services, adhere to ensuring best in class security of our client’s data.  GEEP is not set up to sell retail computer and peripheral devices from our secure facilities and it is unfortunate this mis-understanding was not clear in the video segment.  We would be glad to direct individuals to our downstream partners who do handle such sales of data wiped, refurbished, quality devices.

GEEP Durham Facility Featured in CBS 17 ‘Secure Your ID’ Article

On April 20th 2018, Consumer Investigator, Steve Sbraccia from CBS 17, visited GEEP USA Inc.’s processing facility in Durham, NC.

During his site visit, Steve learned from GEEP’s Brooks Callisher, the sustainable methods employed by GEEP to securely remove sensitive data from electronic devices and electrical equipment. To extend the life of useful items that may become re-purposed, all data is erased to an unrecoverable state through Blancco, the world’s leading provider of data erasure software. While end-of-life products are processed through state-of-the-art proprietary machinery that breaks them down to their base commodities, which can in turn be refined into new products.

The month of April is always an extremely important time at GEEP! Although April 22nd marks the official date of ‘Earth Day’, GEEP participates in several events throughout the month across North and Central America. Our corporate social media accounts (@GEEPGlobal via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) give insight to our collaborative involvement with individuals, companies and governments, one of those being the FREE open-to-the-public ‘Secure Your ID Day’ Electronics Recycling & Document Shredding Event in Raleigh, NC. Local partners BBB Serving Eastern NC, Coastal Credit Union, Shred-It and GEEP hosted the event on April 21, 2018 as part of a bulk shredding event in Raleigh.

#GoGreenWithGEEP 04/22/2018

Earth Day has become the world’s largest environmental movement! In 2018, more than 1 billion people across 192 countries will join to celebrate, educate and activate global initiatives. Unfortunately, our world faces many challenges and it is our responsibility to come together and provide solutions to protect the Earth for future generations.

GEEP believes in a sustainable future and is committed to responsibly managing the consequences of the electronic age. Our mission is to encourage reuse whenever possible. Through innovative, continuously improving processes, we securely repurpose and safely recycle used electronic devices and electrical equipment.

GEEP will be participating in several events across North and Central America, celebrating and collaborating with individuals, companies and governments. Follow our corporate social media accounts (@GEEPGlobal via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) to learn more about these upcoming events and how you can participate! You can also search the hashtag, #GoGreenWithGEEP.

If we do connect in-person, you may receive a GREEN ‘thank-you’ in return: a GEEP seed pen! This item is biodegradable, with the base containing pine tree seeds. Once pen has been used, dispose the refill, plant the pen and watch it grow!

Everyone must do their part, no matter how small, because together we can achieve lasting changes. Celebrate with GEEP this Earth Day, because #TogetherWeCanMakeADifference!

GEEP LOCATIONS

GEEP collaborates with Canada’s Big Five banks to host a personal e-waste recycling event in the GTA from October 17th – 19th

In support of Waste Reduction Week, GEEP is pleased to work together with the five major Canadian banks (BMO, CIBC, RBC, Scotiabank and TD) to build awareness and educate consumers and companies alike about the environmental impacts of electronic waste also referred to as e-waste.

The e-waste recycling event, which will run daily from 7:30AM to 3:30PM, October 17th to 19th, provides a great opportunity for people working in the GTA to bring in their personal electronic waste items from home for responsible disposal.  There will be three e-waste collection locations: the main lobby of Commerce Court East (21 Melinda St., Toronto), south tower lobby of Royal Bank Plaza (200 Bay St., Toronto), and the Atrium of 100 Consilium Place, Scarborough.  E-waste items such as cell phones, computer components (hard drives, monitors, scanners, keyboards, printers, etc.), and home electronics (TVs, radios, CD and DVD players, etc.) are all acceptable materials for electronic recycling.  For a full list of acceptable e-waste items for collection, please visit: Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) – Electronics We Accept.

Waste Reduction Week in Canada, which runs from October 16th to 22nd, is a national environmental campaign that builds awareness around responsible waste management.
